Toto Wolff has made a shocking statement. For the first time, the Mercedes team principal has spoken openly about who he wants to replace Lewis Hamilton, who will leave at the end of the year.
Wolff threw out four names, none of which are a real surprise, but the openness with which he focuses on one of them is all the more shocking:
"We have some very interesting options! There are Kimi Antonelli, Carlos Sainz, Fernando Alonso and of course Max Verstappen, who we want more than anyone. This is a collaboration that has to happen at some point! It's just a matter of time... But there's no denying it: he's our number one candidate alongside George Russell! But I don't want to rule out the others. Our main goal here is to be a top team and to be able to deliver a really competitive car that is attractive to these drivers.
