Villeneuve: "Hamilton must take control"

Villeneuve: “Hamilton trebuie să preia controlul”

Tóth Krisztián Márk |

Jacques Villeneuve says Scuderia Ferrari can only truly become Lewis Hamilton's team if he takes the baton from Charles Leclerc. In every way.

For now, it's clear that it's been more smoke than flame. Hamilton hasn't managed to change the world so far, not even despite the sprint victory, he doesn't really seem like the announced messiah who will bring the Italians back on track for the world championship... Jacques Villeneuve says that the way and basis for this is that he has to "take" Charles Leclerc's team:

"He has very little time to prove himself, he is starting to come out of the grace period that characterised the euphoria after his arrival. He can do that if he takes the initiative from Leclerc. It is not a short-term project, but the good news for Lewis is that he has already - at least on a marketing level - managed to achieve this.

"His success depends on whether he can take over the team from Leclerc, whether he can make the team his own. He has to do that, but not just commercially, but also physically, on the track. He has to get pole positions, he has to win, he has to present himself as a challenger for the world championship," the former world champion said about another former world champion.
