With some surprise, Scuderia Ferrari dominated the US Grand Prix, and Lando Norris and Max Verstappen, considered favorites, could only fight for third place.
Charles Leclerc perfectly recognized the "loophole" offered by Lando Norris and Max Verstappen at the start and, starting from fourth place, immediately took the lead. His compatriot, Lewis Hamilton, had a fantastic start, climbing from the last line to 12th place (!!) in a few corners, but as fast as he was, fate overtook him... The Briton ended up in the sand where George Russell had slipped in yesterday's qualifying session, so he separated from the subsequent battles. The safety car came out, and with the departure of the safety car, the essential picture did not change: Leclerc, Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz were still in the lead. Behind them, the two McLarens, Lando Norris - Oscar Piastri, followed. After that, there was another crash by Guanyu Zhou and some fighting at the back of the pack, but already then it was clear, unfortunately, that we would not be recording the 2024 US Grand Prix as the race of the decade.
After the pit stops, the order of the day changed somewhat, and now the two Scuderia Ferrari cars dominated the race, with Verstappen struggling behind them on the hard tyres. We could see different strategies, different tactics, but unfortunately there were far fewer moments reminiscent of motor racing. From the fast Norris, we expected to light some fire in the Austin desert, as did Liam Lawson, who had a brilliant comeback in his race. The intensity of the race was well reflected by the fact that the broadcast, for ten long laps, showed nothing but Norris chasing Verstappen - for the simple reason that apart from that, nothing else happened.
In the end, Norris managed to swap places, but in an illegal way, so that Charles Leclerc, the winner of the US Grand Prix, and Carlos Sainz, in second place, were finally followed by Max Verstappen, who finished in third place.
