Exciting moments await us at this weekend's Formula 1 race, especially from a Japanese perspective. Because it's not just Yuki Tsunoda who will be able to make an appearance on the circuit for the local fans.
Another youngster will also have the opportunity, namely Toyota WEC driver Ryo Hirakawa, who will be able to drive the Alpine from 2025. Hirakawa will be able to get behind the wheel in FP1 of the Japanese Grand Prix, in place of Jack Doohan, and for him it will not be completely unknown territory to sit behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car, considering that last year, in Abu Dhabi, he already gained experience with Oscar Piastri's McLaren.
"I am extremely excited and looking forward to driving the A525 in the first free practice session of the Japanese Grand Prix. 18 years ago, in 2007, I watched the Japanese Grand Prix at Fuji, and now I will be able to personally experience what it is like to drive in front of my passionate fans. It will be a dream come true, I am looking forward to it!" said Hirakawa.
