It's been a long time since Carlos Sainz announced his retirement, and from time to time it stirs up controversy that the Spaniard was left aside by Scuderia Ferrari during the best season of his life.
Many believe the team is to blame, but now Carlos Sainz's father has stated that, because of what happened, Lewis Hamilton is more to blame than the red team:
"Ferrari was very happy with Carlos, but he couldn't stay because Hamilton offered himself to the team. He was the one who contacted Ferrari, not the other way around. That's why this story unfolded, but now there's no point in complaining. What bothers me is that Carlos doesn't get the respect and appreciation he deserves based on his abilities. He had his best season, we see the best version of him, and he will continue to develop. He is a driver who is becoming more complete every year, but he is going through a difficult time at Williams. The team was penultimate in the constructors' championship, but he is very motivated. It was difficult for him to process the situation during the season, and that neither Mercedes nor Red Bull Racing chose him, but you will see what he can do..." - Sainz's father declared with disappointed pride.
