It had long been suspected that Sergio Perez would not fulfill his contract due to his extremely poor performance, which did not live up to the standards of the Red Bull Racing team. Due to numerous speculations and significant external pressure, today Perez officially announced: he is leaving Red Bull!
After a long and inexplicable wait, what was meant to happen finally happened. In fact, it wasn't the team that announced the split, but Sergio Perez who said goodbye in a statement:
"I am extremely grateful for the past four seasons and for the opportunity to race with such a great team. It has been an experience driving a Red Bull and I will always cherish our shared successes."
We broke records, reached milestones together and, in the meantime, had the opportunity to meet a lot of wonderful people. I owe a huge thank you to every member of the team, from management to engineers and mechanics, to catering staff, chefs, and those working in the marketing and communication department, everyone. I wish them continued success!
It was also a real honour for me to be Max's teammate and share his successes. I would like to express a special thanks to the fans, especially the Mexican fans, who believed in me every day and supported me unconditionally. We will meet again soon, until then remember... never give up!” - said Perez, thus ending an era in the life of Red Bull.
