These days, many people are "analyzing" Liam Lawson's poor performance in the season opener. However, former team principal Giancarlo Minardi does not share the public opinion. He believes that Lawson is not to blame for his performance.
Rather, Max Verstappen, who, in addition to his undeniable successes, has made Red Bull Racing a team with a single leader. Verstappen is the center, everything relies on him, so it is very difficult to stay in the competition:

As Verstappen's teammate, everyone starts with a huge handicap, and not because the Dutchman is so extraordinarily good. Rather, it is because everything, everything, down to the last screw, is adapted and set for him, and because of this all his teammates have suffered so far. And Liam Lawson cannot cope with this situation. Simply put, in optimal conditions, this should not be allowed, but because of the successes, Max has so much power that he can get what he wants." - the Italian veteran defended the young Lawson.
