Brazilian Grand Prix: An incredible victory for Verstappen

Marele Premiu al Braziliei: O victorie incredibilă pentru Verstappen

Tamás Jancsovics |

A terrible chaos, Lando Norris's journey to hell, Max Verstappen's rebirth, spiced up with a little Alpine miracle. In short, this is the chronicle of the Brazilian Grand Prix.

The Brazilian Grand Prix hasn't even started yet, but we've already documented the first retirement: Lance Stroll abandoned his Aston Martin on the reconnaissance lap and buried himself in the gravel. So the race is over for him... The "second" initial start was best handled by George Russell, who immediately took the lead from Lando Norris. The group came out relatively clean, only Sergio Perez managed to spin, thus ending up in last place. Meanwhile, in the other Red Bull car, Max Verstappen demonstrated a very strong comeback, already being in seventh place ahead of Oscar Piastri within a few laps. Franco Colapinto and Oliver Bearman also had a brilliant performance, overtaking Lewis Hamilton, who was struggling. The seven-time world champion was visibly struggling, out of harmony with his car, and was at the back of the group. Just when the race was starting to get boring, an extreme amount of water fell on the track, prompting a safety car phase.

Before that, several drivers visited the pits, including Collapinto, who however destroyed his Williams on the exit lap. A red flag followed, a long wait, then a flying start... On this occasion, Esteban Ocon maintained his leading position, but Lando Norris lost a lot of time in the background due to a skid. In the meantime, Bearman hit the wall, but everything happened in a good place, so the race could continue without problems. In the meantime, Ocon's advantage increased, but Carlos Sainz came along, who had an accident, and the safety car was called out again. When the race resumed, Verstappen reacted better and took the lead. And since Norris made a huge mistake, he practically gave his rival the opportunity...

The next twenty laps went like this, with Verstappen and the two Alpines on the podium, fighting at the back of the pack, and Norris “nowhere”. The rest of the time, there was no drama, with Max Verstappen winning the Brazilian Grand Prix with a great fight, with a huge advantage, over Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly. And thus, he probably secured a new world title.
