Lando Norris finished in first place, after a night towed and interrupted by the red flag after the first act.
Carlos Sainz, who had been absent for Scuderia Ferrari the previous weekend, was already on track and in the car as a test. It was an active but boring circuit, with the teams running medium and soft tyres. For the most part, the stage brought a series of serious mistakes: Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton tasted the gravel, George Russell made a mistake, and the suffering of the Mercedes team was the most spectacular. The worst, however, was Alexander Albon, who "escaped" with an aggressive attack on a wheel and crashed the Williams into the wall. The two Red Bulls also licked the gravel, while Sainz, on the exit from the pits, was hit by Nico Hülkenberg. Lando Norris, Max Verstappen and George Russell finished in the top three.
