The Dutch Grand Prix is not lost yet: Zandvoort out, Assen in?

Încă nu este pierdut Marele Premiu al Olandei: Zandvoort afară, Assen înăuntru?

Tóth Krisztián Márk |

It has been well known for some time that Zandvoort, and thus the Netherlands, will soon leave the F1 circle. There will be two more grand prix on this circuit, then… Then, after an initial hesitation, Assen announced that it would be willing to take over!

However, the situation is not simple. The real traditions of Europe and Formula 1 matter less and less to the current management of the speed circus, (unfortunately) however, Arjan Bos, the president of the Assen circuit, has indicated that they would be willing to be partners in the (admittedly terrible) rotation system devised by F1.

"Of course, a big dream of ours is to bring Formula 1 to Assen. I think when you have invested so much money in a circuit and you have the support of the public, then - if possible - we definitely have to try. That's exactly what we are doing and we are very positive about this opportunity. We will calmly analyze what is needed to be able to compete seriously, but for the moment it cannot be said that Zandvoort will split and Assen will come in."

"We have to remain cautious. I don't know, we'll see if F1 really wants this race. I would also like to hear Zandvoort's arguments about why they are giving up, I also don't know Formula 1's vision for the Netherlands. We know that they want fewer European races and that they are also thinking about Africa and India. These aspects we also have to take into account," Bos mused.
