Lewis Hamilton has apologised for a reported crash on the first lap of the US Grand Prix, blaming his seven-time world champion title on a technical issue.
After the race, Hamilton was furious and demanded a more serious examination from the team. Not only did the developments not work, but the car became even worse than before the four-week break:
"In the first practice session, there was already a similar scene, when I flipped over in turn three. It's extremely rare, I've never flipped over on this circuit. You saw George Russell struggle with it on Saturday, but he went back to the older spec, so the problem could be with the new development package. The car is constantly bouncing, so if I didn't flip over in turn three, it would have happened in another corner or on another occasion. Something was wrong with the car, I suffered throughout the weekend. I've never flipped over in a race in my life. It wasn't because of a lack of concentration, it was because the technique wasn't good. It's frustrating, but that's it, I'm better off focusing on the fact that on Friday I'll be able to get back in the car." - Hamilton complained.
