We all remember the chaos at last year's Brazilian Grand Prix, the delayed qualifying, the accidents. Well, all of this was not without consequences...
Therefore, a new rule has been introduced regarding qualifying in F1. Regarding the aforementioned qualification, the biggest controversy has been generated by the question of how and on what basis the starting grid will be established, in the event that qualifying cannot take place.
The reaction to what was seen last year is already manifesting itself here, in that, if, starting in 2025, a similar situation arises in which a qualifying session cannot be organized, the rule is that the drivers will start according to the points standings in the individual world championship.
But what if all this happens at the first race of the year, when there is no world championship points standings yet? Well, in that case, the next option is for the starting grid to be set by the FIA race stewards. How they will do this, based on what directives, is not yet known, but perhaps it goes without saying that this decision sets the stage for incredible disputes…
