Qualifying for the Las Vegas Grand Prix will take place soon, and one of the favorites could be Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes.
So, we in the editorial office consider him one of the favorites, but his former teammate and world champion has a completely different opinion. Jenson Button claims that Hamilton is simply too old and slow for qualifying! This is a harsh statement, but not without foundation. So far, only one person has managed to beat the holder of seven world titles in a qualifying standings, namely Nico Rosberg. In 2014, the standings were 12-7 in Rosberg's favor, but this season, Hamilton will receive a much more severe defeat from George Russell, who will be driving for Ferrari next season:
"Lewis is over 40, maybe that's why he's had a decline in his qualifications. No matter how well he performs, no matter how good his reflexes are, he can't compete with the young guys anymore. He's too old for that, he can't keep up with them on a lap, and it's probably very difficult for him to accept that his opponents are not only faster and fresher, but also consistent," said his former rival Button with brutal honesty.
Has he really aged? We'll find out soon...
