According to Berger, the development of recent years and the arrival of Lewis Hamilton have made this year the moment when Ferrari finally steps out of its shadow. The Austrian believes that this will be THE YEAR in which this happens:
"This season, I would bet all my money on Ferrari. I can't say whether Lewis Hamilton or Charles Leclerc will be world champion, or whether they will win the drivers' or constructors' championship - but they will win. They will win the title! In terms of engine and chassis, they are extremely strong, they probably have one of the strongest, if not the strongest, driver duos of all time. In addition, Hamilton's arrival at Maranello brings a level of motivation that is rarely seen. He needed new incentives, and I think he will receive them perfectly at Ferrari.
At Mercedes, he could only taste victory occasionally, and now he finds himself in an environment where everyone is hungry for success. I am sure he will give his best, but I am afraid he will struggle very hard with Leclerc's speed. What can help him a lot is his friendship with Frederic Vasseur. I think Hamilton is not just a simple driver, but also a leader who will be able to inspire and lead the entire team to victory! - said Gerhard Berger, explaining why he considers the Italians the biggest favorites for 2025.
