Bahrain testing days: Would McLaren be the fastest?

Bahrain, zilele de testare: Ar fi McLaren cea mai rapidă?

Tóth Krisztián Márk |

Based on the results of the first day, we might even believe that, but it would be a big mistake to draw more serious conclusions from Wednesday's results.

In less than ideal conditions, practice began with Mercedes' new driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli first on track, and the morning ended with him still in first place. In Bahrain, the weather was unusually cool, with strong winds, 15 degrees Celsius in the air and 25 degrees on the track, and these values did not improve throughout the day. On the low-grip track, several drivers had problems, the most spectacular of which was Liam Lawson, who lost control and spun at the wheel of his Red Bull. However, the new RB driver managed to finish in second place, overtaking Alexander Albon by the lunch break.

In the afternoon came the changes and new complications, in the second stage Max Verstappen and George Russell got into the car, who immediately began to attack the time set by Antonelli, the latter managing to beat him. However, this did not last long, as another driver, Charles Leclerc, came and took the lead. However, before the other drivers could start to attack him, an unusual red flag interruption occurred. A power failure affected the track, blocking activity for almost an hour. During this time, it started to rain in Bahrain, and the track cooled down even more, but all this did not bother Lando Norris, who, after completing one lap, ended the day in first place, ahead of Russell and Verstappen.
