South Africa is waging a very strong campaign to bring the country back into Formula 1, and not just in the news. That's why the country's sports minister has set up a committee to select a promoter with whom the country can submit its bid in the next few months.
Kyalami, a venue no stranger to F1, is rumoured to be the winner. Gayton McKenzie, the minister responsible for sports, is already preparing for 2027, and he believes that by then the conditions for hosting can realistically be shaped:
"The committee that has now been established will establish the conditions for submitting the candidacy. By the end of February, they must submit to the government the proposal for a location that will certainly not bring shame to the country and will organize the best possible race. What location this will be is not yet known, but I would like to add that Kyalami has the necessary history and infrastructure. Look at the climate, look at the roads, a possibility of a street race is easily emerging. There are investors willing to invest in this project, so I think everything is ready..." - stated the most relevant participant in this matter.
