Alonso, at 44, doesn't look like he wants to retire. Practically every weekend he gets asked: how long will he stay? His answer is always the same: a long time, because he's dedicated.
Alonso could be on the track even at 50 years old, which in itself would represent a unique record in modern Formula 1:
"What if I turn fifty? I don't know what it will be then, so I'm leaving all the doors open. This year I really wanted to race, and next year I want to be on the grid because of the rule changes. I want to test myself in 2026 and I wanted to wait for Honda to arrive. Bringing in Adrian Newey added a big plus to all of this and made the contract extension very attractive.
I will always be ready to help the team, no matter what capacity they need me in. If they want me behind the wheel, then I will be there, no matter my age! If I feel motivated and fast enough, then there are no obstacles, otherwise, I will be the first to raise my hand that it's over!
It bothers me a little that on Sundays I don't get the same results as before, but that doesn't affect my motivation and desire for success. On the contrary! I am calm and determined, because this is a transitional period from which we can learn a lot. Now we are preparing to present ourselves in a dignified way when we have a car with a chance of the title. And this moment will come, when the team is ready, I will be here.” - calmly declared Fernando Alonso.
