The World Motorsport Council has met, with the focus being on reforming the existing points system.
The plan was to drastically intervene in the system, but it was eventually abandoned. Instead, the additional points system will be eliminated. This was introduced in 2019 for drivers who finished in the top 10 and set the fastest lap. This will no longer exist from 2025. At the beginning of the season, there was talk that in the future, instead of the current top 10, places 1-12 would receive points.
Ultimately, after the current discussions, this was abandoned, and the existing system will remain in force, along with the aforementioned changes.
